What's a CSA?
A CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program consists of a community of individuals who pledge support to a farm operation so that the farmland becomes the community's farm, with the growers and consumers providing mutual support and sharing the risks and benefits of food production. Members or shareholders of the farm pledge in advance to cover the anticipated costs of the farm operation and farmer's salary. In return, they receive shares in the farm's bounty throughout the growing season, as well as satisfaction gained from reconnecting to the land. Members also share in risks, including poor harvest due to unfavorable weather or pests.
This will be our sixth year for CSA. Program. This kind of "subscription" program allows us to offer customers "shares" in our farm. Subscribers from the area and get the "cream of the crop" all season long in the form of weekly shares of veggies and fruits and free-range eggs. . We offer shares with fruits, vegetables and, eggs. Produce and egg shares; produce only shares and a smaller share with or without eggs.
Supporting local farmers through CSA subscriptions is one way to ensure the growth of a small-farm economy, which in turn ensures the availability of wholesome, local, fresh naturally grown food.

Risks and Benefits of a CSA - When one joins a CSA, one accepts some of the risk. By paying up front, the CSA members share with the farmer the risk that a certain percentage of the crops planned in advanced might fail. The benefit to the farmer is that a certain income is assured, even if he doesn’t have 100% crop success. The benefit to the CSA member is that they are assured a supply of produce presented with the knowledge that the produce is grown free of pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Know that their money is supporting the local economy. There are no refunds for any portion of the CSA program.
